Breakdown
What goes into creating a websystem
Time
Whether it’s creating a simple website, or a detailed webapp with complex functionality, time spent iterating designs and implementation is the deciding factor for the cost of a given product.
Development Tools
Development environments, analysis tools, and product testing, all contribute to the day to day costs of development and maintenance.
Auxiliary costs
Licensing media and third party expenses may be required depending on the contents and use case of a system.
What this means for you
Complexity and novelty are the key factors when pricing a project, but being prepared can play a major roll in the price. Having branding, iconography, and media prepared can greatly reduce costs. A brand document, previous website/system or example/inspiration systems prepared may greatly decrease the time it takes to finish your project.
Below are some examples of different components and systems, and a breakdown of their pricing.
Example Projects
Real world examples
These example sites cover the two most common project types, an informative portfolio site with a relatively low amount of content, and a much larger product catalogue site, with massive amounts of content. Alyssas portfolio site is a totally static site, designed and implemented as is, without the ability to be easily edited. Lochness marine is a fully editable, dynamic content site using our Pipeline content management system, utilising our page data architecture system for easy product management.

Example Components
Real world examples
Below is a demonstration of two components, both with similar content, but different levels of complexity in design and implementation.
Simple Component
This component may take as little as twenty minutes to implement and test for all screen sizes. However, both the image and text may need to be adjusted and optimized, for performance and to ensure it looks good on all devices.

High detail
A higher fidelity image with text
This component may take several hours worth of design and implementation iterations depending on requirements, as keeping a similar style on all devices will likely require multiple version for different screen sizes and orientations.
